Where the Wild Things Are: Patrannache

As promised, today we take a closer look at Patrannache, the incredibly difficult to locate bright pink crane. Next up on the list: the Krasarang Wilds.

Curious about where I picked up that pronunciation of his name? It goes back to Mazzranache's Native American-influenced roots.

Hey everyone! Welcome to the Valley of the Four Winds, where I'm taking a stroll with the clever crane Patrannache.

This long-legged bird is level 86 and the only pink crane in all of Pandaria.

Once tracked down and tamed, Patrannache will gain two abilities. The first, lullaby, works like a mini-wyvern sting and puts an enemy to sleep for four seconds. The second is trick, a fun little non-combat ability that makes him hop.

Patrannache might seem familiar to many WoW veterans - his name and presence in a large grassy zone are a tribute to Mazzranache, the rare pink tallstrider in Mulgore who was the only one of his kind until the Cataclysm.

Patrannache has the longest path of any of the Pandarian rares, covering most of the western and central valley. It takes him about three hours for a full tour of his path - that's one and a half hours one way.

Patrannache's barely-visible tracks are aptly named, as they are incredibly hard to spot, especially when partly buried in the ground. To make matters worse, hunters who have followed him around the entire zone have reported that he does not drop tracks at all in some sections.

Patrannache also passes through areas with large packs of aggressive mobs, which makes taming in them highly difficult, especially at level.

All of these factors make Patrannache the most difficult of the new rares to find and tame.

When he's not ambling from one end of the valley to the other, Patrannache spawns around every two to eight hours.

  1. Hi, just tamed this beastie on Argent Dawn today (02/01/13) at 00.50, just to confirm, the tracks still lead backwards at the moment!
